Mogadishu, May 12 (Hornnews24) – The newly-established Turkish military base in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, has been attacked on Saturday morning with motor shells and rocket propelled grenades.
At least 13 motor shells have hit inside the Turkish military training facility where hundreds of Somali soldiers were busy on their daily routine trainings.
The base is the biggest of its kind in Africa and it gives various training to thousands of Somali soldiers while it also provides military equipments to the weak Somali military forces.
Al-Kaida-linked Alshabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack. The base is a target for Alshabaab as it produces an organized army. The numbers of casualties are still unknown as reporters were not allowed to go inside the military facility.
