Somalia’s opposition party decries Ethiopia’s blatant interference in Galmudug State’s internal affairs

Mogadishu, Nov. 30, 2019 – One of Somalia’s main opposition leaders has strongly condemned what he called the Ethiopia’s outrageous meddling in the domestic affairs of both Galmudug and Jubbaland regional States in Somalia.

The leader of Wadjarjir (Cohesion) Party, Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsameh underscored that Ethiopian troops have been deployed in the Galmudug regional state’s capital Dhusamareb to help what he called the weak and ill-intentioned Somali government tyrannize over the people of the region.

The opposition party’s leader has appealed to the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, to act logically and therefore to desist from such flagrant interference into Galmudug State’s affairs.

Hundreds of Ethiopian soldiers with scores of battlewagons have been deployed in Somalia’s Galmudug State ahead of the presidential and parliamentary elections which are due to take place in the coming weeks.  Ethiopian troops are believed to there to facilitate election manipulation.
