Somalia: US-led joint forces kill civilians in South Somalia

Afgoyeh, May 10, 2018 ( –  Joint US-Somali forces have today killed at least 5 civilians in the Lower Shabelleh Region, South Somalia.

The attack was launched on farmers in a village between Afgoyeh and Barriireh towns at midnight when people were preparing to harvest their fruits and crops for morning purchase. 

According to the local people five civilians have been killed and other people were wounded when their vehicle was destroyed by the American forces.

It is believed that the American troops were misinformed. They were apparently told that Alshabab fighters were hiding in the village.  The Al-Kaida linked Alshabab launches attacks on the Somali and foreign forces operating in the region.

Family members, relatives, friends and villagers have attended the burial of the civilians killed in the attack.  Both the Somali government and the US Africa command did not comment on the killing.
