Somalia: Roadside blast kills 10 government soldiers

Afgoyeh, July 26, 2018 (Hornnews24) – At least 10 government soldiers were killed and others were wounded when a roadside blast hit a military convoy on Wednesday in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle region.

The blast destroyed a military vehicle killing all its occupants on the road between Afgoye and Wanlawayne towns of the Lower Shabelleh Region.  The bodies of the soldiers were severed by the huge explosion beyond recognition.

Al-Qaida-linked Alshabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack.  According to Radio Abdulus affiliated to Alshabaab a senior military officer was among the killed in the attack.

This assault comes two days after al-Shabaab attack on army base in Sanguni village near Kismaio town killed at least 27 soldiers.  After Sanguni deadly attack, Al-Shabaab paraded captured soldiers and the bodies of slain government soldiers killed in onslaught.
