Somalia: Presidential guard gunned down in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, Sept. 16 (Hornnews24) – Gunmen men have shot dead a senior presidential guard in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, on Sunday.

Several men armed with pistols have opened fire on the officer who died instantly on the spot.  A police cordon has been put in place at the area.

The killers fled from the scene of the crime and are at large. The motive of the killing is still unclear and no group has claimed responsibility.

The attackers were suspected to be members of Alshabaab Islamic fighters, a group linked to Alqaida, and fighting for imposing Islamic sharia law in Somalia.
