Somalia: Galmudug State leaders are again at loggerheads

May 26, 2018 (HN24) – Political differences have again reared their heads among the leaders of the Galmudug State in the central regions of Somalia.

A dispute erupted recently between the President of that Administration Ahmed Du’aleh Ghelleh and his vice-president Mohamed Hashi together with the speaker of the parliament Ali Ga’al.

The kernel of their discord is said to be based on power sharing matters involving in the nomination of the council of ministers.  The cabinet is expected to be announced in the coming days.

The Somali and government and the international partners always warned against any differences that could lead to the reconciliation process and appealed to resolve the existing problems at around table.

A former similar dispute led to a vote that removed the president from office but the opposing sides were reconciled after international partners, who are closely following the developments in Galmudug intervened.
