Mogadishu, October 28, 2019 – At least one person has been killed and several others have been wounded in a blast in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Monday, the police and witnesses confirmed.
Initial reports indicate that the explosion was a result of a landmine placed at the roadside that exploded causing casualties and damages.
According to the residents all those who were injured or killed were civilians. No group has come forward on this explosion, which may have been intended for another target.
Somalia has for almost three decades been in the throes of conflict. The war weary country descended into civil war in 1991 following the overthrow of late President Mohamed Siad Barreh and has since remained in the grip of periodic violence.
