Bulo Marer, April 7, 2019 (Hornnews24) – At least 10 Ugandan soldiers have been killed after their vehicle hit a mine in Bulo Mareh town of the Lower Shabelleh Region, Southern Somalia, Alshabaab fighters said on Sunday.

A huge land mine has exploded under an armoured vehicle carrying AMISOM soldiers. The blast destroyed the vehicle killing all its occupants at the scene.  Witnesses say that the bodies of the Ugandan soldiers were severed by the explosion beyond recognition.

Al-Qaida-linked Alshabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack.  The group has confirmed the death of at least 10 Ugandan soldiers and the annihilation of AMISOM armoured vehicle.

Al Shabaab, which control large parts of south and central Somalia, fights for driving out the foreign peacekeepers and unseating the Somalia’s western-backed government to impose the Islamic Sharia law on Somalia.
