Somalia is set to close down schools and universities sending thousands of children home in hopes of curbing the spread of corona virus, the country’s prime minister announced on Wednesday.
Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hasan Ali Khayreh, has announced the shutdown which will affect all schools, universities and educational institutes throughout Somalia.
The premier has also highlighted that his government had set aside over $5 million for treating corona virus cases. Somalia, one of the poorest countries in the world is vulnerable to the disease.
The horn of Africa country has suffered in violence and civil wars since 1991 when Dictator Siad Barreh was ousted by tribal warlords which prompted plunging the country into anarchy.
