Somalia: Alshabab kills 10 AMISOM Solidiers and annihilates armoured vehicle

Mogadishu, May 16 (Hornnews24)  – At least 10 African Union Soldiers have been killed and more than 15 others were injured at the suburb of the Somali capital Mogadishu on Wednesday by roadside bomb explosion.

The Islamic fighters in Somalia known as Harakat Almujahideen Alshabab have immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. The road bomb has torn through the military vehicle.  Alshabaab’s landmine explosions struck numerous times convoys of African Union force in Somalia.

Al-Qaida-linked fighters have confirmed that they blew apart at least one armoured vehicle of AMISOM and killed 10 soldiers without giving further details.  The group has ramped up its attacks on both the Somali government soldiers and the foreign forces.

Alshabab fights for chucking out foreign forces to unseat the Somali government and impose Islamic Sharia law on the country. The group still controls large parts of southern and central regions of Somalia.

The United States recognized the Somali government in 2013 and US air strikes in Somalia beefed up to fight against Alshabab but the astray and indiscriminate air strikes have only killed dozens of civilians mostly women and children although United States has never admitted killing civilians in Somalia.
