Regional state leaders of Somalia meet in Baidoa

May 13, 2018 (hn24) – The regional government leaders of Somalia are meeting in Baidoa town South Somalia to discuss among other things the security situation of the country and ways of strengthening their cooperation.

The leaders of Galmudug, Southwest, Jubbaland, Hirshabelle and Puntland states are attending the meeting hosted by the South-West State of Somalia.

The leaders will also discuss matters relating to the worsened ties between Somalia and United Arab Emirates. Most of the regional state leaders want to maintain UAE as ally. The Relations between Somalia and United Arab Emirates worsened when UAE signed controversial deal with the self-proclaimed Republic of Somaliland.

The weak government of Somalia still depends politically, economically and militarily on foreign countries and on the international community.
