The officer, a man in his 30s was stabbed several times in the attack, but was able to take down the suspect by using his Taser, The Telegraph reported. Another officer at the scene arrested him after he was Tased.

“I would like to commend his bravery and resilience especially as he managed to draw a taser, despite being repeatedly stabbed, to prevent the suspect harming anyone else and to protect himself from further injury,” Metropolitan Police inspector Julia James said after the attack, according to The Telegraph.

The officer was critically injured in the attack but was in stable condition early Thursday. The suspect was brought to a police station with charges pending against him.
