Explosion kills 5 government soldiers and wounds more than 10

Mogadishu April 21, 2019 (Hornnews24) – At least 5 government soldiers have been killed and 10 others hospitalised when a roadside blast hit a military vehicle on Sunday at the suburb of the Somali capital Mogadishu.

The roadside bomb has destroyed a military pick-up truck killing 5 of its occupants on the road between Mogadishu and Afgoyeh town.

The bodies of the soldiers were severed by the huge explosion beyond recognition. It is believed that it was a remotely controlled landmine.

Al-Qaida-linked Alshabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack.  According to Radio Abdulus affiliated to Alshabaab several soldiers were killed in the attack. The soldiers in the convoy were US-trained Somali military commandoes known as Bangraf.
