Alshabaab guns down government official in Mogadishu

Sunday, December 09, 2018 (Hornnews24) – Armed men have killed on Sunday a Somali government official in his house in the Somali capital Mogadishu.  One of the daughters of the deceased was also slightly wounded by the bullets.

The man who was identified as Abdi Osman Afrah (Abdi Bifaneh) was killed by three men armed with pistols.  According to witnesses, the attackers have taken away the victim’s vehicle after murdering him.

Alshabaab Islamic fighters have immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.  The Al-Qaida-linked group has confirmed that they killed Abdi Osman Afrah (Abdi Bifaneh) who was a revenue officer working for the federal government.

Anarchy, chaos and violence have prevailed in Somalia since 1991, when clan-based warlords overthrew Dictator Siad Barre and then turned against each other.

For a decade, the weak UN-backed Somali government has been fighting alongside African Union troops against al Shabaab, which aims to impose Islamic Sharia law on whole Somalia.
