Heavily armed al-Shabaab extremists have stormed a military base at Moqokori settlement in Somalia’s semiautonomous state of Hirshabelleh killing close to 72 government soldiers.
Hundreds of fighters from al-Shabaab, the Alqaida-linked Islamist Group that controls parts of Somalia, have stormed an army base in Moqokori town of the Hiran region killing up to 72 sodiers and seizing several battle wagons.
Officials called it the region’s deadliest attack in years, highlighting the challenges facing Somali government forces from the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab.
Hundreds of residents came to see the corpses of the slain soldiers. Those who saw the bodies of their young soldiers lying on the ground showed calmness and control instead of behaving emotional way.
